Problem is they all dont' have Harvard degrees. Last president without a Harvard degree was Charles Chauncy, who was president from 1654 to 1672. Thats 334 years ago. So in addition to these names i want to ask: does having a Harvard degree matter?

Condi Rice - Sec of State, former Provost of Stanford

Shirley Ann Jackson - President of RPI, first black woman to get PhD from MIT

Donna Shalala - President, University of Miami and Clinton's Health and Human Services Secretary

Names I have heard (note all women):

Elena Kagan - Dean of Harvard Law School

Ruth Simmons - President of Brown

Drew Gilpin Faust - Dean of the Radcliffe Institute

Amy Gutmann - President of Penn (Daily Pennsylvanian reports she is out but unclear if this is true)

Nan Keohanne - Former President of Wellesley and Duke, Corporation Member

Anne-Marie Slaughter - Dean of Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton
